Stainless Steel

General requirements applicable to all Metalco’s products in any material

Products must be removed from plastic (nylon) packaging to avoid damage. In the case that a product can not be installed within the first few days, make sure product is removed from packaging to allow ventilation and prevent formation of condensation. This can irreparably damage the product.

Metalco uses stainless steel AISI 304 or 304L.

Stainless Steel Features

Stainless steel is available in two treatments:
1. satinizing (standard)
2. electropolishing (on request and with price surcharge)

When installing stainless steel products in areas with salty air, heavy air pollution, or areas with other atmospheric corrosion factors, Metalco recommends using ELECTROPOLISHING treatment.

ELECTROPOLISHING improves the corrosion resistance of products manufactured in stainless steel. This treatment is subject to surcharge.

Metalco recommends the periodic cleaning of products made of stainless steel to eliminate salt, dust and other debris which may alter the protective layer of the material. Washing, as well as making the product clean, can reduce the risk of corrosion.

Normally, it’s sufficient to simply wash the stainless steel with water, detergent and a soft cloth. In the case of lime scale deposits, use a cream-purpose cleaner with a soft cloth. In the case of thicker deposits, use 1 part hot water to 1/4 part vinegar. For grease and oil stains, use a mild liquid dishwashing product. For rust stains, use a mild cream using a soft damp cloth.

For optimal cleaning of stainless steel, Metalco uses a specific cleaner to remove dirt, stains and processing residues, which can be provided on request.

In case of any doubt about the proper maintenance procedure, please contact the Metalco Quality Department for advice.
